Your gift can support hundreds of marginalised people to claim their rights.
Shimla comes from a small village in India’s Chhattisgarh. She is 26 – the eldest of three children. Her family depends mostly on agriculture to live – they grow rice paddy, maize, wheat and chickpeas which brings in enough money to sustain them day to day. Despite their modest income, her parents were determined that she should attend university, even if it meant selling their jewellery and other precious belongings to pay for her tuition. Their sacrifice paid off and Shimla graduated from the local college.
Not long after, her village received a visit by staff from one of Frank Water’s Partners. Shimla’s confidence and hard work stood out from the crowd and she was invited to join the team as a ‘livelihood extender’ – someone supports others to improve and increase their income. Shimla launched herself into the role, attending training and workshops to develop her skills and knowledge.
Today, Shimla uses her job to help the most vulnerable tribal women in the area by supporting them to claim their rights to education, health and employment. She’s set up three different groups for women. Girls and young women in the villages where she works seek her for advice across all areas of their lives.

The tax payer and gift aid declaration is valid for the current tax year (6 April to 5 April), the previous four tax years and all future tax years. I understand that if I pay less income/capital gains tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in the tax year in which they are received, it is my responsibility to pay any difference and that I must notify the charity of any changes to my tax status, including changes to my name or address.
If you choose to send your gift in the post, we charge a standard delivery fee of £1. We deliver to customers in the UK only. We’ll do our best to send your gift the day you order, though in busy times it may take us a little bit longer.
