Join Frank Water’s friendly and effective team as we enter an ambitious new phase to deliver our vision of a future where everyone, everywhere has access to resilient water resources for generations to come.
2025 will mark our 20th Anniversary and as we consider our ambitions for the next decade, our Founder & CEO, Katie Alcott, has decided to step back from operational leadership to focus on fundraising, advocacy, and building partnerships with key players in our field. We’re therefore seeking a new CEO as we shape the next chapter of Frank Water’s story.
Purpose
- Lead us to achieve our vision, in a small organisation where resources are tight
- Scale up our impact whilst maintaining our culture of integrity, authenticity, kindness & humility
- Review & refresh our our strategy, business model, financial model and organisational structure
- Leading our small, dynamic team through a period of change, while also managing key relationships with partners, stakeholders & supporters.
- Engage new supporters and ensure we continue to be innovative
Key responsibilities and duties
- Manage a successful handover of all operational leadership responsibilities from the Founder to the CEO.
- Deliver a revised, compelling and sustainable strategy, within the first 90 days, to underpin Frank Water’s vision and mission.
- Develop plans to operationalise the strategy in an integrated way across all teams in the organisation.
- Create a set of impact and delivery measures to evaluate progress against plan, and to form the basis of regular reports to the Board of Trustees.
- Review and improve the financial sustainability of Frank Water, including the funding model and business model, ensuring we generate the necessary finances for growth.
- Support and empower the Senior Leadership Team to review their own operating plans, developing and delivering any necessary improvements and changes.
- Ensure that we are compliant with all regulatory requirements and adheres to best practice. Review and maintain the policy framework at Frank Water to this end.
- Maintain a robust People Plan, making sure that everyone can reach their full potential in a fair and equitable environment. Make sure that staff and volunteers have realistic workloads and are supported in their development where necessary.
Who should apply?
Essential:
- Values focused. Able to put values into practice every day, personally and organisationally. Especially humility, integrity, transparency and authenticity. Respecting the values of others and maintaining a values-driven culture.
- A proven leader with self-awareness, exceptional communication and negotiation skills, strategic vision and the ability to bring people together behind our mission.
- Highly capable at stakeholder management in a leadership role across a wide variety of global, institutional, business and individual stakeholders.
- Experienced in strategy development and delivery. Proficient at creating data-led goals to underpin a strategy, then operationalising this with a clear plan, realistic metrics and robust monitoring and risk management.
- Financially astute. Understanding reports, interrogating financial data and complying with legislation. Excellent budgeting and short, medium and long-term forecasting. An understanding of fundraising. Able to mitigate or manage financial risk.
- Performance oriented. Outcome focused, and able to create an effective and efficient organisation delivering measurable impact. Transparent evaluation for all stakeholders, including the Trustees, Funders and communities where Frank Water operates. Maintain robust performance management across the organisation in a constructive and supportive way.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of working within a Founder-led organisation.
- Experience of the Water Stewardship and WASH sector.
- Understanding of Charity and CIC governance and regulatory requirements.
- Experience of driving growth and scaling up organisational impact.
