Football Fundraiser for Frank Water

Frank Water’s Corporate Supporters, Arup and Stantec, organised a brilliant evening to fundraise for safe water, sanitation and hygiene. They challenged their employees to a football match.

Engineering firms, Arup and Stantec, were technically competitors within their work field. They decided to create something fun to do in aid of charity.

“I think it really started with me at my local friendly team Brave playing against Arup a few months ago. I was very impressed with their team, and stayed in touch with some of the girls. I later learned that Arup also supported Frank Water and it was a bit of a lightbulb moment.

As a company they are our competitors, but we also have a lot in common. I thought wouldn’t it be fun to make the most of that and create something fun in aid of charity? I decided to go for it! I wrote an email to the Arup Team captain with the subject: “STANTEC vs ARUP football match for FRANK WATER”. They were immediately hooked, the idea took on a life of its own from then on. It will be nice to see a rematch in the future, maybe inviting some other local engineering firms as well.

I think it sparked a new motivation to do more in our Bristol team.”

Despite the poor weather on the day, Stantec and Arup collectively raised £337 for Frank Water. This will help us to provide our vision of a water secure future.

“Arup had a wonderful time supporting Frank Water. It was an excellent mix of football, pizza, socialising, and donating for an important charity dear to our hearts. It was a pleasure collaborating between Arup and Stantec for this football tournament. We know that the donations will improve water safety and access for all.”

Frank Water’s Corporate Partnerships Executive, Lizzie Archer, attended the football match in Bristol.

“Despite the deluge of rain that faced Bristol that evening in May, both Stantec and Arup were high in spirits. They brought their A-game to the football pitch. Frank Water feel really appreciative that our partners were so creative. That they joined together to make this football tournament happen – now that really is collaborative work at it’s best! We’re so grateful to have such wonderful corporate partners here at Frank Water. The standard of football was so high, perhaps there could even be an annual Stantec v Arup fundraiser match?”
