Every solution to the world’s biggest challenges – climate, health, nature and social progress – starts with water. When we protect water, we create the foundation for a thriving planet and resilient future.
To mark the UN’s World Water Day on 22 March, Frank Water unveiled a stunning mural in Bristol city centre by artist and activist Jasmine Hortop to highlight fresh water’s crucial role. Using special, water-activated hydrochromic paint on the top layer, the mural bursts into colour when wet, revealing a breathtaking scene of fresh water flowing through a natural landscape – lush trees and grasses flourishing, an abundance of wildlife and people benefitting from the live-giving force that sustains all life.
Supported by Cabot Circus, Upfest, Exhale Coffee and If Not Now Digital this innovative installation celebrates the life-giving power of water and the future it makes possible. Protect water and protect the future of our planet.
The mural will remain in Quakers Friars (near the Apple shop) until the end of April.
Every solution starts with water
Hotter summers, shifting rainfall patterns, and rising flood risks are making it harder to manage water globally. From growing food to producing everyday essentials and keeping taps flowing, having enough water is more unpredictable everywhere.
And of course, it’s not just humans that rely on having water readily available, it’s all living things. Without water, nothing survives.
How Frank Water Makes a Difference
Biodiversity – Nature’s strongest defence against climate change. Healthy ecosystems provide food, water, medicine, and stability. Using nature-based solutions, like planting trees and restoring landscapes in our spring rejuvenation projects, we help bring water back to the land, rebuild habitats, and create natural carbon sinks.
Fighting Water Pollution – Challenging and advocating to improve policies that allow industrial farming to contaminate waterways with harmful nitrates and contaminants, and our sanitation programmes prevent raw sewage from entering water sources.
Sustainable Manufacturing – Ensuring factories are designed and operated with people and nature in mind, particularly in water-scarce regions. By integrating sustainable water management into industrial planning, we help reduce environmental damage, safeguard local water sources, and support communities that depend on them.
Global Citizenship – Water connects us all. Through education and awareness, we encourage people to protect our planet’s precious freshwater—just like the air we breathe.
At Frank Water, we’re committed to ensuring that everyone, everywhere has access to safe, sustainable water.
To make this a reality, we collaborate with partners, embrace innovation, and advocate for lasting change—because together, we can create a future where clean water flows for all.
With thanks to our wonderful supporters
