India is facing a well-documented water crisis. The World Bank reports that India “has 18 percent of the world’s population, but only 4 percent of its water resources, making it among the most water-stressed in the world”.
The frequency and intensity of droughts and floods are felt keenly by the communities we work alongside, many of whom rely on farming for their livelihoods or live in disaster-prone regions.
Despite significant gains in recent years, there is still so much work to be done to improve both the availability and the safety of water.
Frank Water’s story began in India in 2005 and we have been learning from and supporting communities across India ever since. We work with some incredible partners to influence public policy and practices, which strengthens WASH systems and scales up solutions across the country.
