Your Gift Helps Children Like Those Who Attend Sendurkhar Primary School
Working with whole schools is an effective way to amplify our impact. Not only do we reach children and teachers but children pass on what they learn to their families. In India’s Chhattisgarh, we visit schools to talk about the importance of washing hands before and after meals & after going to the toilet. This simple approach has life-changing consequences. When FRANK Water began work in the Sendurkhar Primary school, there was no hand washing station, no running water and no soap. When we asked them, most of the 97 students didn’t know to wash their hands at all during the school day. After our visit, the headmaster decided to make a change. Despite having no handpump on site, he created a dedicated hand washing station with a bucket of water and a bar of soap. The children were encouraged to wash hands regularly. Over time, hand washing became a habit to the extent that children took what they’d learned home and encouraged their parents and siblings to wash their hands too. Mr. Tihari Lalji, told us that “This is the first year in many that we haven’t had to set up a mobile health camp to treat malaria/diarrhoea & typhoid in the school. We’ve been able to ride through the season without a single child falling sick!”
Your gift can reduce sick days, improve education and encourage whole families to change their behaviour.

The tax payer and gift aid declaration is valid for the current tax year (6 April to 5 April), the previous four tax years and all future tax years. I understand that if I pay less income/capital gains tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in the tax year in which they are received, it is my responsibility to pay any difference and that I must notify the charity of any changes to my tax status, including changes to my name or address.
